I am Kristina Lodovisi and I’m running for Michigan State Senate, District 9.
I am married to my husband Anthony with 2 kids, Logan and Daisy and a stepdaughter, Elizabeth. When I am not spending time with my family I volunteer for two non-profit organizations that aim to improve, educate and empower children.
I am a Girl Scout Troop Leader and member of Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan. I became a Troop Leader because I understand the importance and impact strong female role models have on young women. Girl Scouts build our future leaders.
I am also the Public Relations Officer for the H. Harwood Parent Teacher Organization at my stepdaughter’s school. I feel that communication and transparency are key aspects of any governing body. Keeping parents informed and engaged improves children’s academic success and empowers people to hold decision makers accountable for their action or inaction.
I come from a union family. My father was apart of the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters Union, my grandparents were apart of the United Auto Workers Union along with my aunt and uncle and my husband is a member of the National Treasury Employees Union. I believe that unions are key to providing a reasonable living by getting workers fair wages and benefits. Over the last eight years lawmakers have worked to erode the power of unions. Republicans in Lansing care more about business profits than the average workers quality of life and this needs to be reversed.
I am a Michigan Army National Guard Veteran. I served as an MP. I did one tour in the Afghanistan War. I joined the military to defend our rights and our freedom. I believe Civil Rights are for everybody, not just a specific group that certain individuals think deserve them.
